This interview aims to meet you and your whanau and share some important information regarding orientation and starting secondary school in 2025.
Enrolment Scheme

Mana College Home Zone
The Enrolment scheme home zone includes addresses on both sides of boundary roads unless otherwise stated
The northern boundary runs from Mana Island around the coastal area of Titahi Bay North. The boundary around to Onepoto Road and continues along both sides of Titahi Bay Road.
Where Titahi Bay Road meets Wi Neera Drive, the boundary continues along Wi Neera Drive then goes across Porirua Stream to SH1 and then runs down SH1 down to the Porirua and Wellington Council boundary.
The Southern Boundary runs down Kenepuru Drive. Wall Place is included within Zone. Rembrandt Avenue is NOT in the zone.
Broken Hill Road and all addresses off it are in the zone.
The southern boundary then follows the Porirua/ Wellington Council boundary to the coast.
The scheme then runs out to Mana Island. Mana Island is in the zone.

Consequent upon the passing of the Education Amendment Act 2000, the following matters are drawn to the attention of the parents of prospective students at the thirteen schools above.
1 ENROLMENT SCHEMES
In order to avoid overcrowding, the school Boards of the above schools have adopted enrolment schemes which have been approved by the Ministry of Education.
The Boards now invite applications from parents who wish to enrol their children at any of the above schools for next year. Applications are governed by each school’s individual enrolment scheme, details of which are available in each school’s prospectus, or from the respective school offices.
Applications are to be made on the official enrolment forms, and according to the manner prescribed in the prospectus of each school.
2 HOME ZONES
Each of the above schools has a home zone specified in their enrolment scheme. The following is a description of the home zones:
Aotea College Home Zone
All of the northern ward of Porirua City, boundary (encompassing Pauatahanui, up to the summit of Paekakariki Hill Road and Paremata and Haywards Road (SH58) to Mount Cecil Road). This includes the neighbourhoods of Aotea, Ascot Park, Camborne, Mana, Papakowhai, Paremata, Pauatahanui, Plimmerton, Pukerua Bay and Whitby. The Ascot Park area of the eastern ward with the eastern boundary following the Kenepuru Stream south from the point of intersection with the northern ward to where it meets with SH1 and runs into Porirua Harbour (Mepham Place is not in zone).
Hutt Valley High School Home Zone
Northern Boundary: That area south of a line drawn through the following points and including the streets mentioned starting at the point where, on the Belmont Hill, Normandale Road ends then south to Tirohanga Road, along Tirohanga Road and including Kekeno Street to the southern junction of Tirohanga Road and Matuhi Street, then in an easterly direction to the Hutt River to a point opposite the Boulcott Golf Course, proceeding down the Hutt River to a point opposite Melling Road, then along Melling Road (including all odd house numbers on High Street lower than 529 and all even house numbers on High Street lower than 508), Brunswick Street, Kings Crescent (including all odd house numbers from 115 down and all even house numbers lower than and including 122), Epuni Street (including all odd house numbers on Witako Street lower than and including 47 and all even house numbers on Witako Street lower than and including 44), Oxford Terrace (including all house numbers up to and including 79), Waterloo Road (including all house numbers on Cambridge Terrace 1- 100), Waiwhetu Road (including all odd house numbers lower than 173a and all even house numbers lower than 224), Rossiter Avenue to the southern end of Wyndrum Avenue (including all odd house numbers from 71 up and all even house numbers higher than and including 62), all houses on Riverside Drive lower than 295 are included. The boundary continues to the east to the boundary between the Eastern and Wainuiomata Wards of the Hutt City, then following the ward boundary south-west until it meets with the Harbour Ward boundary and continuing along that boundary until it meets the Wellington harbour.
Western and Southern Boundary: Horokiwi Road (including van der Velden Way) and the northern edge of the Wellington Harbour.
N.B. Any street whose only exit or exits is onto a street named in the zone as defined above shall be deemed part of the Hutt Valley High School zone.
Kapiti College Home Zone
• The northern boundary is at the coast opposite Kapiti Road and is then Kapiti Road centerline, to State Highway One (SH1). Kapiti Road addresses being odd numbers on the south side are in zone, even numbers on the north side are not in zone.
• At the intersection of Kapiti Road and SH1 the boundary north is a line such that SH1 (also called Amohia Street) addresses up to and including 121 Amohia Street are in zone. Buckley Grove addresses are in zone. Addresses on SH1 up to and including 239 (odd side) and 238 (even side) are in zone.
• On the east side of SH1, the boundary is the border of the Paraparaumu Scenic Reserve (not in zone) to the Tararua Ranges.
• The eastern boundary follows the Tararua Ranges to Akatarawa Road, addresses 457 (odd side) and 432 (even side) and below are in zone.
• From the Akatarawa Road boundary point, the boundary is a line to Paekakariki Hill Road such that numbers 771A (odd side) and 776 (even side) and above on Paekakariki Hill Road are in zone. From the Paekakariki Hill Road boundary point, the southern boundary is such that address numbers 310 SH1 (opposite the intersection with Airlie Road) and above are in zone.
• On the western side of SH1, the boundary is Airlie Road, addresses on both sides are in zone. Firth Road and Cluny Road addresses are not in zone.
• At the intersection of Airlie Road and Moana Road the boundary then follows the coastline to the home zone description starting point opposite Kapiti Road. Address numbers 55 Moana Road and above are in zone.
Mana College Home Zone
The Enrolment scheme home zone includes addresses on both sides of boundary roads unless otherwise stated The northern boundary runs from Mana Island around the coastal area of Titahi Bay North. Newlands College Home Zone
The suburbs of Grenada Village, Hunters Hill, Paparangi, Newlands, Woodridge and Bellevue:
• Bounded to the west and south by State Highway One motorway.
• Bounded to the north of Grenada Village, on a line extending from State Highway One motorway to State Highway Two motorway.
• Bounded to the east by State Highway Two motorway.
• Bounded by the new streets at the end of Mark Avenue by the roundabout which are Havana Rise, Montego Place and Sandino Place. The suburbs of Churton Park, Johnsonville, and Ohariu Valley:
• Bounded to the east by State Highway One motorway.
• Bounded to the north by the corridor under the high voltage transmission wires. This includes all house numbers up to and including 400 on the eastern side and 409 on the western side of Middleton Road.
• Bounded to the west by the summit of the Ohariu Valley ridge.
• Bounded to the south by a line extending from State Highway One motorway, along Disraeli Street, Broderick Road, Old Coach Road, and Rifle Range Road to the junction with Ohariu Road.
Onslow College Home Zone
All students who live within the home zone described below shall be entitled to enrol at the school. Onslow College’s normal geographic zone includes streets arising within the following area. The area is defined by the following access points to Onslow College. The enrolment scheme home zone is that area which lies within the areas of Ohariu Valley, Churton Park, Glenside, Johnsonville, Broadmeadows, Rangoon Heights, Khandallah, Cashmere, Ngaio, Kaiwharawhara, Crofton Downs, Chartwell, Wadestown, Wilton and Northland.
In summary, the zone is that area bounded by the centre-line of the Johnsonville- Porirua motorway (from the high-tension power lines north of Churton Park and south of the intersection between Richmond Hill Road and Middleton Road), the centre-line of Centennial Highway in Ngauranga Gorge, the centre-line of Old Hutt Road, the centre-line of Tinakori Road, the centre-line of Glenmore Street, the centre-line of Chaytor Street, the centre-line of Curtis Street to the intersection of Curtis Street and Whitehead Road. The western boundary is formed by a line directly north from the intersection of Curtis Street and Whitehead Road and including all streets in the suburbs of Northland, Wilton, Chartwell, Crofton Downs, Ngaio, Khandallah, Johnsonville and Churton Park to the bridge at the northern end of Takarau Gorge (by number 341 Takarau Gorge Road). The northern section of the zone includes all houses in Rifle Range Road, Ohariu Valley Road, Boom Rock Road and Takarau Gorge Road up to number 341.
Otaki College
The Northern Boundary runs along from the coast to just North of Manakau. The township of Waikawa Beach is in zone. Addresses on Whakahoro Road are in zone. State Highway 1 addresses between 564 – 820 even and 493 – 831 odd are in zone. The scheme then runs across country to the Kāpiti Coast District and Carterton District Council boundaries. The scheme runs South along this boundary until close to where the South Wairarapa District boundary. From this point in runs west back to the coastline. All of Te Horo are included. Te Hapua Road are in zone. Peka Peka is not in zone. All residential addresses on included sides of boundary roads and all no exit roads off included sides of boundary roads are included in the scheme unless otherwise stated.
Paraparaumu College Home Zone
In the south the scheme runs along the intersection of Marine Parade and Toru Road, along Toru Road to the airport and following the airport boundary north along Dakota Rd – Magrath Ave to Kapiti Road, then along both sides of Kapiti Road to old State Highway, up the old State Highway to the intersection of Ruahine Street (including Nikau Valley). The scheme runs east until the top of the Akatarawa summit. The scheme runs along until it meets Hadfield Road. The scheme then runs north up State Highway One to Te Kowhai Road and Gary Road. The scheme then runs back along to coast to the intersection of Marine Parade and Toru Road. All residential addresses on included sides of boundary roads and all no exit roads off included sides of boundary roads are included in the scheme unless otherwise stated.
Tawa College Home Zone
The Tawa College Home Zone is defined as the suburb of Tawa bounded on the north by the Wellington City boundary, and including the localities of Linden, Greenacres (including the extensions of Woodman Drive), Central Tawa, Redwood, Grenada North, Takapu Valley and Willowbank/Middleton Road as far south as the entrance to the railway tunnel.
Wellington College Home Zone
All students whose usual and permanent place of residence is within the College zone shall be entitled to enrol at the school.
The Following is a description of the zone:
In the north, the boundary of the area shall be a line extending from the south side of the junction of Kaiwharawhara Road and the Hutt Road, proceeding to the intersection of Churchill Drive and Chartwell Drive, excluding the Ngaio Gorge Road and Trelissick Crescent. From this intersection, but excluding Chartwell Drive and all streets west in Chartwell and north in Crofton Downs, proceed south-west along
Churchill Drive. Both sides of Churchill Drive are in zone south of number 117. Continue along Wilton Road and through to Curtis Street (houses on both sides are included in the zone). All of Karori is in zone. Houses on either side of both Makara Road and Makara Beach Road are in zone. All houses along Takarau Gorge Road are excluded. In the south, the boundary of the area is from the junction of Evans Bay Parade and
Maida Vale Road (all of Maida Vale Road and Evans Bay Parade north of the intersection are in zone); thence via the pedestrian walkway and cutting across Grafton Road (number 61 Grafton Road and north are included in zone) near the junction with Palliser Road; then following Palliser Road (excluding Thane Road and Robison Lane) to the Town Belt boundary (houses on both sides of Palliser Road are included in the zone). From here the boundary follows the Town Belt south-west to Alexandra Road and along Alexandra Road to a point opposite Mein Street (and including all houses on the west side of Alexandra Road), continuing west along Mein Street (and including houses on both sides) to the intersection of Mein Street, Riddiford Street and Hall Street. The boundary continues west along Hall Street (including houses on both sides) and across Hutchison Road (excluding all of Finnimore Terrace, Pearce Street, Dransfield Street and Moffitt Street) to Connaught Terrace; along Connaught Terrace (both sides included in the zone) to the intersection with Washington Avenue (and including numbers 150/151 and north in Washington Avenue), then north-west to the intersection of Taft Street and McKinley Crescent (the zone includes both sides of Taft Street); then west to Ohiro Road, excluding Mornington Road and Lincoln Street and Kopiko Way. The boundary then turns in a south westerly direction to the western end of Ohiro Road so that all streets south of numbers 263/250 Ohiro Road are outside the zone.

Out of Zone Enrolments
Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.
Priority for enrolment at Mana College is specified under the Education Act. Students are accepted in the following order of priority:
First Priority will be given to applicants of Te Whare Ako/ Service Academy
Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority will be given to applicants who are children of former students.
Fifth Priority will be given to applicants who are either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.
Out of Zone Enrolment Dates for 2025
The board of Trustees will make 20 Year 9 Out of Zone spaces available for 2025.
Please note the timeline below. Late applications will not be included in the Ballot for the 2025 enrolments.
Wednesday 24 July 2024 – Closing date for Year 9 Applications
Monday 29 July 2024 – Ballot for 2025 Out of Zone applications for Year 9
Thursday 1 August 2024 – Parent notification of Ballot outcome
Monday 14 October 2024 – Closing date for applications for Year 10-13 in 2025
Friday 18 October 2024 – Ballot held if required for placements in Year 10-13 in 2025
Wednesday 23 October 2024 – Parent to notification of Ballot outcome
